The municipalities of Turtmann-Unterems, Agarn and Oberems have jointly developed a tourism staging concept with the support of the Pfyn-Finges Nature Park. Over the next few years, this concept will form the basis for the gradual and decentralized implementation of experience offers at various locations around the unifying theme of "Light & Shadow".
The idea started around two years ago with the request of individual community representatives to look for new adventure offers for hiking tourists and walking locals - and not to blindly follow the general mountain bike trend, as is the case elsewhere, which of course also has its justification. The tranquil, relaxing landscape and the charming, authentic villages of Turtmann, Oberems, Unterems and Agarn certainly offer tourism potential.
Following initial discussions and clarifications, a working group was formed, consisting of representatives from the participating municipalities and local tourism organizations, and coordinated by the Pfyn-Finges Nature Park office. In addition, an external specialist office was commissioned to develop a staging concept. With the help of several moderated exchange meetings, the initially vague ideas and needs were fleshed out into concrete, unique experience formats and a unifying, identity-creating theme of "light & shadow". The often rather negative perception of the shady region in winter was transformed into positive aspects: Winter tranquillity, relaxation, reflection and summer freshness, cooling in the light of climate change as well as playing with contrasts of light, "Boozu" stories, etc.
In addition, the working group has moved away from the originally planned theme trail to focus more on decentralized places where locals and visitors can meet and experience the light and shade theme in a different way in each village. Oberems will present itself as a sun terrace and shade provider, Unterems will offer plays of light and shade, Agarn will showcase light and shade figures and Turtmann shady buildings and glowing flowers. Pleasure loungers, shady spots and an experience guide form the connecting elements.
The municipalities have agreed to implement elements of the staging concept over the next few years within the framework of the available budget. The Pfyn-Finges Nature Park is also available to support the municipalities in the implementation of signage and information.
