The Pfyn-Finges Nature Park is characterized by its ornithological richness. With the national project, "Bird of the Park", he chose the hoopoe as the symbolic bird of our region.

The hoopoe is particularly fond of the landscapes of the Rhone Valley. It is a rare bird with small breeding populations in Switzerland. The largest breeding population is found in Valais. With this project, the nature park is committed to promoting this beautiful species and developing various measures to promote its conservation. Although there is evidence that it already breeds regularly on the territory of the Nature Park, the Rhône plain and its slopes still offer numerous opportunities to increase its presence.
