Last Saturday, the first Repair Café of the Pfyn-Finges Nature Park took place in Turtmann. 80 people from all over the Upper Valais brought their devices to be repaired or sat down for a cozy chat over coffee and cake. A total of 43 devices were repaired by experts. Those responsible are now considering how repair cafés can be offered in the long term.
The Pfyn-Finges Nature Park promotes sustainable value chains and a regional circular economy. This also includes saving resources by using appliances and products for as long as possible. The Pfyn-Finges Nature Park has now organized its first Repair Café with the support of the municipality of Turtmann and the Foundation for Consumer Protection.
Blenders, toasters, televisions, drills, robot vacuum cleaners, jeans, toy telephones, ceramic birds and an 80-year-old radio - six experts volunteered to repair everything they could. During the waiting time, there was plenty of chatting in the coffee bar and those who visited the Repair Café were also given practical tips on how to repair the appliances themselves or use the defective ones creatively as decoration.
Thanks to the lively interest and positive feedback from participants, the Pfyn-Finges Nature Park is now planning further Repair Cafés in the park perimeter.
