On November 5, 2022, the first edition of the Repair Café in the Pfyn-Finges Nature Park will take place in the OPRA hangar in Turtmann. All interested people from the region are cordially invited to come along and breathe new life into broken items. Visitors benefit from experienced repairers and suitable tools. Sewing, screwing, drilling and soldering will take place in the OPRA hangar in Turtmann from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm. The repair services are free of charge, only the spare parts have to be paid for.
Time and again, products that have only minor defects and can be repaired with relatively little effort end up as waste. In many cases, repair is not considered, is not worthwhile or is not possible according to the manufacturer. More and more Repair Cafés are showing that this is only partly true and that over half of the products can be repaired. Repair Cafés offer the opportunity to take concrete action against the waste of resources, the throwaway economy and the growing mountains of waste. Visitors also learn how appliances can be repaired and that there are creative solutions for almost everything that is faulty. As a positive side effect, the event is easy on the wallet and new contacts are made over coffee and cake.
In its new strategic direction, the Pfyn-Finges Nature Park has set itself the goal of promoting sustainable value chains and a regional circular economy. This also includes saving resources by using equipment and products for as long as possible. With this in mind, the Pfyn-Finges Nature Park is organizing this public Repair Café for the first time this autumn.
