The Swiss Parks Network and the Swiss Ornithological Institute have launched the national "Park Bird" project. The aim is to promote bird species that are typical of the landscape and/or rare, and to preserve and enhance their habitats. The nature park has chosen the hoopoe because it loves the special features of the Rhone Valley landscape.
