Gampel: AGM of the Pfyn-Finges Nature Park - Clever on the move!

The Pfyn-Finges Living and Adventure Area Association has been in existence for 22 years. At the ordinary AGM, not only the finances were presented to the members, but also new, creative concepts.

Association president Olivier Salamin looked back on a busy year. The "regional nature park of national importance" label expires at the end of 2022 after the first ten-year operating phase. Accordingly, the nature park had to prepare an evaluation of its work over the last ten years and at the same time submit the application dossier for the renewal of the label from 1.1.2023.

Crans-Montana, Turtmann and Inden new members

The existing park municipalities have clearly positioned themselves with an approval rate of almost 95%. In Crans-Montana, the municipal council unanimously declared its support for the nature park following the merger with Mollens. While the municipality of Turtmann-Unterems is now integrating its entire municipal area into the park perimeter, the municipality of Inden is a new addition. As a result, the Pfyn-Finges Nature Park will now comprise 13 park municipalities from 2023.

Clever travel through Corona

Director Peter Oggier pointed out that the pandemic continues to affect us all. The restrictions on events were also challenging for the nature park. At the same time, however, the team became very creative due to the new situation. For example, the traditional "cleaning day" in the Pfynwald nature reserve was decentralized without further ado and distributed to various park communities. "Clever on the move" was the motto in April 2021, when over 500 people spent a whole week collecting litter in their local area, on school, work or walking paths. Following the great success of the campaign, it will be held again in 2022 from April 19-24.

Valuable cooperation

Vice Director Viola Anthamatten presented the annual accounts. In particular, she thanked Loterie Romande, FMV, Regionalps, the Swiss Ornithological Institute and the Swiss Landscape Foundation for their many years of excellent cooperation and financial support. Lonza has also become a valuable partner, whether in the area of ecological enhancement measures or by supporting the "Technology and Nature" summer school program in Jeizinen.
