In mid-April, the traditional cleaning day took place again in the Pfynwald conservation area. More than 80 helpers took care of their forest. The Pfyn-Finges Nature Park organizes the annual wellness day for the Pfynwald nature reserve to ensure the preservation of this unique landscape and raise awareness among the population.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the nature park's clean-up day has been held decentrally in various nature park municipalities over the past three years as part of a "clean-up week". For logistical reasons, this year saw a return to the traditional clean-up day in the nature reserve. "So many helpers working together for the same cause creates a sense of solidarity and boosts motivation," says Emilie Beberat, who is currently supporting the nature park's "Nature and Landscape" department.
2 skips of waste collected in a very short time
Despite the rainy weather, the motivated participants - including families and clubs - met at Leuk train station in the morning. In groups, they mainly cleaned the hiking and walking trails. "We were very surprised at what some people leave lying around in the forest - especially by the roadside. We even found two pairs of new shoes," said one helper indignantly. At the end, the helpers were treated to a delicious lunch by nature park partner Relais Bayard. This was accompanied by wines and juices from wine partner Franz-Josef Mathier AG and Chevalier Bayard, as well as a delicious beer from the Sonnenberge brewery. The children received a small gift.
Valuable support
With FMV, the Pfyn-Finges Nature Park has a strong partner at its side. Every year, the energy producer invests in this event and other collaborations. Thanks are also due to Theler AG, which provides the skips free of charge and disposes of the collected waste professionally. With the cleaning day and the supervisory work, the Pfyn-Finges Nature Park helps to ensure that the Pfynwald nature reserve remains what it always was and is - a beautiful local recreation area.
