Carnet nature - Le Petit Bois de Sierre as you've never seen it before

The Bibliothèque-Médiathèque Sierre (BMS) and the Pfyn-Finges Nature Park invite you to encounter nature with all your senses, your story and your heart.

Nature is part of us and we are part of nature, but how do we feel it in our bodies and hearts? This is the question that will be the common thread running through a day designed for all audiences, guided by artist and cultural mediator Héloïse Pocry. She will share with you her current approach, which gives artistic form to our sensitivity to nature. Together, we'll open up our senses and curiosity to the infinite richness of nature, from the minuscule to the grandiose, and translate this experience into a "nature notebook" that everyone can take away and add to later. The surrounding landscape will suddenly tell our personal story, and vice versa. A tender and poetic way of reinventing our relationship with nature.

A morning at the Bibliothèque-Médiathèque

The first part, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., will be devoted to discovering the means of expression we'll be using: creative writing, drawing, watercolor. It will also be an opportunity to learn about the collections of the BMS, to familiarize ourselves with the identification of elements of nature, their names, shapes, colors and textures. This preparatory workshop will introduce practical work in the field.

An afternoon at Petit Bois

We'll meet again at 1:30 p.m. in the green setting of Petit Bois, just a stone's throw from the station. Noémie Evequoz, a Nature Park guide, will be our interpreter as we get to know the area's biodiversity, while Héloïse Pocry will take us step by step through the process of creating a personal "nature notebook" that everyone can easily make their own. We'll take a fresh look at what touches us, turning simple observation into a genuine encounter.

From one project to the next

Héloïse Pocry is currently in residence at the BMS as part of the "Ecoute voir" project celebrating the institution's 50th anniversary. This has become an opportunity to share her other ongoing project based on nature. Find out more about his activities on the Lémancolie website.

A first collaboration between the Sierre media library and the Pfyn-Finges Nature Park

Muriel In Albon is delighted with this collaboration: "We've already had the opportunity to offer a similar travel journal workshop with Héloïse. Here, the scientific support of a guide from the Pfyn-Finges Nature Park adds real value.

According to Armin Christen of the Pfyn-Finges Nature Park, the double workshop is fully in line with the park's mission to raise awareness of biodiversity, and enables the people of Sierro to take full ownership of the emblematic Petit Bois site. As part of a project undertaken by the town of Sierre and the Pfyn-Finges Nature Park, part of this small forest will be renatured between 2022 and 2023 to promote biodiversity and make it more welcoming for the town's population.
