The managers of the Valais Nature Parks Binntal, Pfyn-Finges, Trient Valley and UNESCO World Heritage SAJA met last Thursday to plan joint activities in Ernen.
The Binntal Landscape Park, the UNESCO World Heritage Swiss Alps Jungfrau Aletsch (SAJA) and the Pfyn-Finges Regional Nature Park meet annually to exchange ideas and strengthen cooperation. Since last year, the Trient Valley, which is currently in the candidacy phase for "Regional Nature Park of National Importance", has also been integrated. The tasks of the nature parks and the SAJA UNESCO World Heritage Site include the preservation and enhancement of nature and landscape as well as the strengthening of a sustainable economy in the regions. Together with the federal government and the canton, they define the specific services to be implemented for a period of four years. The parks implement their own and joint measures. In Ernen, the focus was now on developing the joint priorities for the 2025-28 operating phase. The supporting municipalities and their populations should be able to benefit even more from the expertise of the nature parks and the UNESCO World Heritage SAJA. The focus for the coming years will therefore be on educational and awareness-raising offers for the population as well as advice and maintenance work in the landscape sector. The sustainable economy is to be further strengthened through a wider range of regional products and cycles suitable for grandchildren. In particular, networking between the parks is to be ensured in these areas so that professional synergies can be exploited. To this end, the Valais nature parks and the UNESCO World Heritage SAJA want to work together more closely and present themselves more effectively.
