" Ecological grazing"
2014 – 2028The Pfyn-Finges Nature Park manages the extensive grazing of the rocky steppe near Leuk with various animal species, coupled with manual shrub removal.
Grazing Pfynwald (forest reserve) with farm animals, manual de-bushing work to reduce the ground cover and young trees in grazing areas, grazing as long-term land maintenance. Objective: Promotion of species in sparse forest habitats.
Open forests were common in the former cultural landscape. They arise from intensive use of the forest by humans. In order to restore and preserve these species-rich areas, selected locations in the forest reserve of Pfynwald are grazed with various animals and manual bush removal work is carried out. This creates valuable, diverse living spaces. Extensive grazing provides long-term maintanence and promotes biodiversity.
