New construction of a dry stone wall along the Mühleweg path in Albinen.
Dry stone walls are ecologically very valuable structures. The wall along the Mühleweg path in Albinen was rebuilt to preserve biodiversity and the cultural landscape.
The Pfyn-Finges Nature Park supported the municipality of Albinen with planning, implementation and financing. The work was carried out by a Civil service team from Naturnetz. As an old cultural asset, dry stone walls also have a significant impact on the landscape of the Valais vineyards. They represent an attractive and important habitat for many animal species (e.g. lizards, wild bees, butterflies). Therefore, destroyed dry stone walls should be restored wherever possible. It is important to prevent these from being largely replaced by ecologically worthless concrete walls.
