The Nature Park Pfyn-Finges organises this excursion in collaboration with the Valais regional office of the Swiss Ornithological Institute. It takes place as part of the ‘Nature Festival’ and is therefore free of charge for all participants.

On this walk along the southern slope, we will be focusing on the birds, with a particular focus on the eurasian hoopoe, which nests here every year. Other bird species such as the red-backed shrike and common cuckoo, typical of this diverse farmland, could also make an appearance. We will also look for birds typical of dry habitats, such as the rock bunting or western bonelli's warbler, not to mention the many birds of prey that fly over the area, including the short-toed snake eagle and the european honey buzzard.

The excursion starts at the «Leuk, Rotafen» bus stop and ends at the «Leuk, Lichten» or «Leuk, Abzw. Erschmatt» bus stop. Please note that if you arrive by car, the group will not walk back to Wiler in Guttet-Feschel. We therefore recommend travelling by public transport.
