WHAT CAN YOU DO FOR BIODIVERSITY?

Each and every individual can make a contribution in everyday life to counteract the impending loss of biodiversity. They are often small actions, but in sum they have a big impact. Here are a few concrete tips on how we can all contribute to the conservation and promotion of biodiversity:
Foodstuffs
- Regional - Sourcing regional products contributes to the preservation of our natural cultural landscape and at the same time reduces transport distances.
- Diverse - By using traditional fruit, vegetable or grain varieties, you promote local genetic diversity.
- Organic - Eco-labels can help you choose foodstuffs that are produced in the most environmentally friendly way possible.
- Fresh - ready-to-eat meals and fast food often contain ecologically and socially problematic raw materials from tropical countries (e.g. palm oil) and are less healthy than freshly prepared meals.
- Plant-based - Compared to foodstuffs of animal origin, plant-based products require significantly fewer resources during production.
Garden
- Native instead of exotic - Native trees, shrubs and wild flower meadows are enormously valuable for birds and insects (please do not cut shrubs in summer and leave refuge strips when mowing meadows).
- Diverse instead of sterile - With small structures such as stone and deadwood piles as well as nesting aids, you create valuable habitats for a wide variety of animal and plant species.
- Natural instead of chemical - Natural remedies and beneficial insects can support you in pest control.
Household
- Detergents and cleaning agents - Detergents with environmentally friendly ingredients have less of an impact on the environment.
- Clothing and wood products - Prefer regional raw materials and eco-certifications
- Packaging - Reuse can save packaging material (reusable instead of disposable use for carrier bags, bottles, etc.).
- Be guided by the motto "less is more" when consuming products in general.
