Projects
The Nature Park aspires to develop the region to be fit for our grandchildren through regular impulses and measures. A performance agreement with the Federal and Cantonal Government defines the activities of the Pfyn-Finges Nature Park with concrete projects. These are designed to sensitise and educate, preserve and enhance, support and strengthen.
Sensitise and educate inhabitants
Regional Indentity
A regional nature park can only exist in the long-term if the people who live there help to support it. The park inhabitants should identify themselves with the nature park and be proud to be a part of it. In order to create this identity, the Pfyn-Finges Nature Park repeatedly provides impulses in the project “Regional Identity”, which are tied to the tradition of the region. We tell stories, show the singularity of our dialects, and revive old songs.
Preserve and enhance landscapes
Steppe and biotope
The steppe of the Rhone sands and on the south-facing slopes surrounding Leuk are the most important and unique biotopes of the Regional Nature Park Pfyn-Finges.
Landscape
Landscapes shape both inhabitants and visitors of a region. They are the epitome of homeland for many people. The following short films shows examples of how landscapes are anything but static. The “Nature Park” label distinguishes the landscape of the 12 park municipalities as one of the most beautiful and authentic in Switzerland.
Deployment in the nature
In order to preserve the natural and cultural landscape, the Nature Park organises voluntary work. This enables people to work actively for the preservation and enhancement of the beautiful natural and cultural landscape in the Pfyn-Finges Nature Park!
Agriculture and Forestry
Agriculture has a major influence on the landscape and the biodiversity.
For this reason the Pfyn-Finges Nature Park coordinates different projects in this sector. The nature park is supported in its work by regular operations in the nature by volunteer work from schools, civil defence workers and many more.
Public facilities and residual areas
Upgrading ecological residual areas encourages biodiversity. The nature park is therefore looking for possibilities of re-using barren house gardens. As part of adult education the Pfyn-Finges Nature Park offers various courses around the garden.
Support and strengthen sustainable economy
Control of visitors
More than a hundred tousend people are visiting the Pfyn-Finges Nature Park every year. It is important to us to guide them trough the park.
Mobility and energy
The Pfyn-Finges Nature Park campaigns for the use of public transport. Thus practically all attractions in the nature park can be reached by public transport and start at central point. Together with the regional energy producers and suppliers, the Pfyn-Finges Nature Park sensitises the population to the energy issue.
Sustainable economy
Together with the regional companies, the nature park provides impulses for a development of the region that is suitable for grandchildren. The nature park endeavours to implement innovative projects with the regional economic players and thus strengthen the sustainable economy in the park communities.
