On some days during the year, dog training is allowed in the forest of Pfyn/Finges Nature Reserve. These may only be carried out with the prior approval of the Canton. The nature park supports the Canton in coordinating the associations and supervising the permits. In the breeding season the permitted number of training sessions in the nature reserve is clearly restricted.

The training sessions that are carried out involve searching for people - «mantrailing». Here, dogs and humans are trained to search for missing and buried people. The trained dog can differentiate between different human odours and focuses exclusively on the characteristic odour of the sought person. Even persons in a moving car leave traceable trails behind for the dog’s nose. 

Amongst other things, the cantonal rescue organisation KWRO and Redog train in the area by agreement.
