The new part of the "Petit-Bois" has been open to the public for several months and was officially inaugurated on September 16, 2023. The entire population was invited to discover the different facets of this area, which has been redesigned to promote and preserve biodiversity and the importance of nature and its delicate balance. This day was organized in collaboration with the municipality of Sierre and the JardinSuisse Valais association.
The "Petit-Bois" is the green lung in the heart of the town and has been transformed through an ambitious renaturation project to protect and promote biodiversity. The population can enjoy nature undisturbed on paths with informative signs and in quiet areas. Various areas have been created: Zones on the dry meadow, an area with a new planting method (a " Miyawaki " forest) and rest areas. The hill is thus ecologically enhanced, but is also a natural recreation area in the middle of the city. At the inauguration, visitors will have the opportunity to discover the different dimensions of this protected area.
