For the third time, the Nature Park and its partner companies laid the table in the middle of the vineyards. Aficionados from all over Switzerland met at this year’s Tavolata (banquet table) of the Pfyn-Finges Nature Park. The guests were treated to 6 courses of culinary regional products and enjoyed the breathtaking landscape in a friendly atmosphere.
A Tavolata primarily involves enjoyment and conviviality. Tables are placed together to form one long table. Different regional products are placed in the middle in pots and on platters and enjoyed to the fullest extent with the family and friends. For many, the Tavolata in the middle of the Nature Park vineyards is part of the summer tradition. The hosts Cave du Rhodan, Franz-Josef Mathier, Domaines Chevaliers, Albert Mathier & sons, Chevalier Bayard and C. Varonier & sons together with the Pfyn-Finges Nature Park treated the visitors with their products. Visitors from all over Switzerland travelled to Varen. They enjoyed seasonal dishes and a suitable accompanying wine. The catering company Fifty One were up to the challenge of cooking purely local products and prepared creative dishes especially for this occasion. Needless to say, every wine cellar offered the harmonious wine to each of the six courses. Musical entertainment for the company was provided by 5 musicians from the Aosta Valley. This year’s success consolidated this magical experience in the Valais summer. Next year the 2020 Tavolata will take place on 22/08/2020.
Promote an economy fit for our grandchildren
Twelve nature park municipalities received the Nature Park of National Importance award on the basis of their unique and outstanding natural and landscape values. This is intended to preserve and enhance traditional cultural and natural landscapes, promote an economy fit for our grandchildren and sensitise its inhabitants.
Together with the partner companies, the Nature Park provides the impetus for a development fit for our grandchildren. With their corporate philosophy, the partner companies share the same values that the Nature Park also advocates. The products of these companies make the values tangible. They are subject to strict cultivation, production and quality criteria. The Tavolata is a perfect opportunity to bring landscape and regional products to the participants in a convivial atmosphere.
