Wine production with tradition
The C. Varonier & Söhne AG cellars have been operating in the picturesque Varen region for 3 generations. It was founded in 1969 and has prioritised hospitality, warmth, innovation and authenticity from the outset
The idyllic village of Varen is located on sunny slopes and is the second biggest wine producer in Upper Valais with a wide range of wines on offer. The focus here is on the quality and not the quantity of the wines and as such the wines have regularly won numerous sought-after prizes.
We have been operating the C. Varonier & Söhne AG wine cellar in this picturesque village for 3 generations. The family business was established in 1969 as one of the first in Varen and has prioritised hospitality, warmth, innovation and authenticity from the outset.
We produce the wines using fruity grapes which grow on our optimally situated slopes, producing authentic and quality regional wines under the warm Valais sun. The vines are nurtured and maintained with great care in the company’s own vineyards, thereby enhancing customer satisfaction.

On the way through vineyards and wine villages in the nature park.
Start with the cable car ride: Gampel - Jeizinen. From Jeizinen the route leads to Erschmatt and/or Feschel-Guttet. Between Leuk and Varen one crosses the Dala gorge. The descent goes directly down through Salquenen to the railway station at Sierre.
Discover wine and water between Sierre and Salgesch. The walk goes from Sierre past the Gironde Lake and along the wild Rhone to Salgesch. A wine-tasting stop at one of the wine partner companies is well worthwhile.
Diversity of nature on a picturesque trail along the rippling water course. Walk along the Suone Neuf (Bisse Neuf) and the Grossi Wasserleitu from Varen (Varen irrigation channel). Both irrigation channels take their water directly from the Raspille
The artists' village of Veyras, where Rainer Maria Rilke lived, the Raspille Gorge, the Valais Wine Museum in the Zumofenhaus in Salgesch and the village of Varen are all well worth seeing. Another possibility goes through the forest of Pfyn/Finges.
High above the Rhone valley, along magical Valais singletracks, discover hidden Alpine charms as you ride past idyllic mountain villages and through cultural landscapes.
The second stage takes you to wine-growing villages through the Mediterranean vineyard.
This all-mountain tour in the heart of Leukerbad's rocky arena will make mountain bikers' hearts beat faster: breathtaking scenery, magical views and trail action.
The Dala Kultur Bike is the perfect tour for beginners. The route offers a combination of technically easy trails along with various natural and cultural sites.
